What sets off an attack
Alcohol during a cycle almost always. Also naps, smells and low oxygen.

Outside a cycle triggers usually do nothing. During one they can start an attack within 30–60 minutes.
- Alcohol, even a little. The most common and reliable trigger.
- Daytime naps and broken routine.
- Strong smells: solvents, petrol, perfume.
- Altitude and flights.
- Low oxygen during sleep: snoring and apnoea.
Heavy snoring is worth checking with a doctor. Sleep apnoea is linked to night attacks, and treating it sometimes helps.
